Once again, ancient poets reverberate today!  NOSTALGIA, is a “word-package” of complex notions that thrives in most European languages – it signals that knowledge is a cause of ALGIA and so does the Bible by branding the tree of knowledge as poisonous – perhaps the “nostalgia package” also points to the twins HYPNOS and THANATOS – we mortals hope that sleep may grant us relief from daily “algias” and most of us know of nightmares which poets attribute to MARA – HYPNOS grants temporary sleep which MARA can “mar” by injecting nightMARES - THANATOS stands for irreversible sleep – his task is to spare the departing from being disturbed by MARA or NOSTALGIAS and let the departed “rest” or “sleep” in peace.
