This portrait illustrates the "Habsburg Facies Syndrome" (H+ in our postings) - the signs signaling such view are based on the concurrence of growth alterations (mostly post-natal) of the jaw (emphasized in medical sources as the "Habsburg Jaw" mutation), dorsal nasal cartilage overgrowth, and less dramatically the eyelids (anti-mongoloid slant, ectropion). Most provocative is that a very similar perspective of this face was painted 30 years later and it demonstrated a progression of these alterations (please see related).
