"Pointed ear" of a Satyr. In biology, the unfolded auricular helix is "normal" in many species (squirrel, etc.). The site of the gap at the junction of the upper and middle third of the ear rim is in other instances, a site of a tubercle called Darwin Tubercle - observed in humans - its significance is unknown - please see our companion web-site "Clinical Eye Openers".
