"Double Hit"- WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL INHERITS A MUTATED GENES FROM EACH OF HIS PARENTS - A CAUSE OF ANOMALIES OF GREATER SEVERITY
"Felipe IV (Phillip IV King of Spain), father of Carlos II (Charles II) " (see related A | B | C), 1626 Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez (1599-1660) Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain
His facies H+ is obvious and similar to those of his child-wife Mariana(1634-1696) who was only 14 years old at their marriage. He was her uncle and had no male heir. Many pregnancies followed and most ended in stillborns (inbreeding or consanguinity poses reproductive risks and both of these prospective parents had inherited the H+ mutation). In brief, one of their son who survived only to early adulthood was Carlos II. He inherited the H+ but to a much more severe degree. (see the page/image dedicated to him). Others and myself believe that a "double inheritance" of the H+ mutation caused the much more severe phenotype (dysmorphogenesis).
