"Roman Bath - Tepidarium or Frigidarium during summer and winter" Fiesole, Tuscany, Italy
An open air swimming pool or rather bath and depending on the season a frigidarium (frigid or cold water) or tepidarium (tepid water) during summer.
Therme as in thermometer points to ancient bathing facility such as the Roman public baths in the city of Bath in England. In Rome, large imperial bath complexes were known as Thermae (see companion images and comments).
In Medicine, thermia, hyper-thermia, hypo-thermia, etc. are obvious derivatives from the above notions.
