"DOUBLE HIT" VICTIM - CONCURRENT INHERITANCE OF A MUTATED GENE FROM EACH PARENT
"Carlos II (1661-1700) - Severe Habsburg facies (H+) " (details from "Carlos II or Konig Karl II von Spanien (King Charles II of Spain)") (see related A | B), 1685 Juan Carreno de Miranda (1614-1685) Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria
Sever H+ facies: overgrowth of the mandible, undergrowth of the mid-face and other multiple functional and structural anomalies. Borth of hisi parents had H+ facies and the severity of his dysmorphisms conbined with his intellectual limitations suggest that he inherted the H+ gene mutation in "doble dose"- one from each parent. His father was the uncle of his mother and each of them hat a 50% chance to transimit the gene mutation to him. Casuistics concerned with similar circumstances suggest5 that a "double" inheritance is conducive to serious developmental deficits.
