This a detail of a full image where links to other representations of Madonnas by famous artists are given. In this detail, as in other depictions, infant Jesus has sparse hair. In Italy, being "hairy" probably was not a desirable attribute. In medical terms, the scalp hair could be referred to as "hypotrichosis".
