CHROMOSOME'S ANAPHASE and a SPECTER of DOWN SYNDROME
"Anaphase and Spectrum of Down Syndrome", 1978 Wolfgang Laskowski
The following description is by Prof. Karl Sperling from Berlin, Germany (the arrow is added by Pandora Word Box staff).
The image shows an anaphase with 45 chromatids (left), 46 (right), and a lagging chromosome 21 (red). If this moves to the right pole, the resulting cell is trisomic. This is reflected by the facial expression of the child. While its right side shows trisomy 21 stigmata, the left side is normal. This figure is documented in the book “Genetics and malformations in art” (J. Kunze & I. Nippert eds., Grosse Vlg. 1986).
