See note concerning the full image. Emphasized here is the loss of the right eye. If you look carefully, there is a scarring under the right eye suggesting a healed trauma. Return to the main image and notice that this subject is severely malformed or rather deformed. There are multiple curvatures of the spine. The painting suggests the association with leprosy, but I see no visual evidence in this or other depicted individuals.
