There is a book on "Life before Nature". The author is Erwin Chargaff, a polymath native from Chernivtsi, Ukraine. The beauty of this city survived WWI and WWII and represents classic architectural landmarks of several centuries. Chargaff's reflections registered in his "Heraclitean Fire" book are inspiring. The same is true for the catastrophic fires in Chornobyl and Fukushima - Daiichi. Perhaps, you should know more about Chargaff, his discoveries that led to the definition of the structure of DNA (he was not awarded the Nobel Prize that he deserved - perhaps because he was a contrarian). His views of the world were prophecies that today are reality.
