It is provocative that in Greek and Roman mythology the twins Thanatos - Somnus represented similar attributes. Teratology in modern medicine incorporates the notion that the study of "monsters" is not the study of evil spirits - it is the study of what "monsters" demonstrate - a word that implicitly underscores what is the cause or what to expect.
