NAPOLEON II
"Le Roi de Rome" (see related A | B), 1811 Pierre-Paul Prud'hon Louvre Museum, Paris, France
The son of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise was born the 20th of March of 1811. His full name was Napoleon Francois Charles Joseph. The depiction of this baby implies that he did not dream of what was in store for him. After the defeat of his father, the Emperor of Austria removed his grandson from the care by his daughter and isolated him until his early death. In Vienna, he was virtually neglected to death and was renamed as Duke Reichstadt.
